Week 20: Lesson Help from a Cockroach

Mi familia! Como les va?

This week has been great! I am so tired.. so I am not sure how much I will write.. because it might just stop making sense hah. I have a strong testimony about P-days.

My comp Hermana Torres is great! She has been teaching me so much already. It’s still a little weird never speaking in English.. Sometimes it’s still hard for me to explain stuff because I still have gospel library more than social skills with Spanish. The other day we were walking and she had a Coke and was telling me how bad Coke is and I got all excited trying to tell her how they use Coke to clean up accidents on the road and she just looked mortified and asked if you can die from Coke and I kept trying to explain but the way I said it I think she was disturbed.. probably will never drink Coke again. She threw it away hahaha. Then I just said in English on accident, “Why did I even just tell you that haha.” Then realized I was just talking to myself basically. I was thinking about it and maybe Spanish will help me think before I speak more.. ya know, help my filter problem haha.

Thugs after proselyting and getting doors slammed in our face.
She really wants to learn English so I have been trying to help her! Her new favorite phrase is, “Run Forrest Run!” used when running across the street, or running/hiding from the same dog on the corner every day.. He waits for us.. The worst dog in the world. Haha but yeah she loves saying that. Also I try to just tell her the names of everything in English randomly and she writes it down. The other day I said, “Socks! Fuzzy!” Then she kept saying socks fuzzy and now we have to fix it haha so I have to say “Fuzzy socks, not socks fuzzy!” She asks me why English is like that.. But I still don’t understand how Spanish is like Yoda language.. THANKFULLY because of this I’ll be speaking like Yoda just in time for the new Star Wars movie next year.

This week has been awesome with some of our investigators! One of our investigators (sorry I am not putting their names on here because it goes on a blog) is SUPER timid and shy.. It has been really hard to get him to talk to us more but we had a lesson the other day and while singing “Divina Luz” a HUGE cockroach came to join us.. kid you not it was the equivalent to a small cat.. ok I am kidding (Don’t they have spiders as big as cats somewhere? Iraq?) But it was HUGE. It went straight to our feet so Hna. Torres and I were just curled up on the couch holding on to each other thinking this is the end while our investigator was running from place to place throwing shoes at it, even a book (don’t worry, it wasn’t the Book of Mormon). Every time he would throw something it would run somewhere else and we would just point and tell him where it went. ("Signs" kid, “It’s BEHINND!” HAHA) Eres tu Satanas?… Haha.. Seriously. BUT finally we took care of it.. The cat finished him off. We had a good laugh and then the whole rest of the lesson we talked a lot! I guess I have the cockroach to thank?...

Well, he came to church Sunday and also two other investigators! We are teaching a girl who is a police officer! She has two of the cutest little girls in the entire world and Suday she came with her older daughter! During Sacrament the little girl was a little bored so I have this cool book of pictures of stories in the Bible and the Book of Mormon so we looked at that and to my surprise she told me who was in every picture and every story in the Bible.. about David, Moses, Daniel, Noah, Jonah.. etc. She was teaching me! Then I showed her other stories and the pictures of the temples. I asked her if she would like to go to Primary and she said yes excitedly! At the end of Church she came and found us in Relief Society and told us all that she had learned and had some fun crafts to show us. I was just hugging her while some members were talking to her mom and she asked if Church was Monday too and said that she wants to come every day. Then her mom came back over and she just begged her to let her come again. Did I mention how much I just love children? I agreed with her that I wish Church was every day.. I also wish I could just go to Primary hehe. I don’t know how I am ever going to leave my buddies (all the little kids) in this ward.

I am so excited for this week.. We have appointments where I wish it was that day already so that we can go to them! I am excited to tell you how they go.

This week I have been studying about charity in Preach My Gospel! Maybe I will attach a photo of my notes or I am going to tell you more about my studies next week… it’s a lot.. So more next week deal? J

I love you so so much! Read the Book of Mormon every day!

Siempre,
Your llama

“Pure religion is not just going to church to worship but to actually be Christian and love the Principles. Don’t be a Sunday Mormon.” –Wise words from a wise man.
